- ➤ Lowell Police dedicated a memorial Hero Sign on Dec. 18 to honor Officer Patrick Leavitt, the first officer to die on duty. The sign now stands outside the former police station on Market Street (family members, officers, and city leaders attended the ceremony). Inside Lowell
