PrideStar Trinity EMS and the City of Lowell are set to launch a new prehospital buprenorphine program to let trained BLS personnel treat eligible patients experiencing opioid withdrawal after overdoses, following Tuesday's unanimous City Council funding approval.
The initiative builds on ongoing opioid crisis efforts in Lowell.
Susan West Levine, CEO of Lowell Community Health Center, was named Chair of the Board for the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers last week; she will expand access to care by building on her work, including launching a residency program (a pipeline for local doctors) at Lowell CHC.
