- ➤ Danielle McFadden, president of the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, met with Jean Phelps, CEO of Incompass Human Services, at Wellpoint Studios on August 27 and they discussed that Incompass now owns its Chelmsford building—adding details on its programs and how Lowell residents can get involved. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Maura Healey and Housing and Livable Communities Secretary Ed Augustus awarded $15 million in HDIP funds to create 829 new homes in six cities—484 Merrimack Street in downtown Lowell received $1.3-million to build 24 housing units, add commercial space and house Sophia’s Greek Pantry, with New Royal, LLC and Patrick Tighe as sponsors. The project will restore the historic 1912 storefront and support local downtown revitalization. Inside Lowell
- ➤ Bill H.3594 seeks to protect librarians and library staff from harassment during good faith work—after incidents in Tewksbury and Chelmsford—and has support from local Representative Tara T. Hong. Some critics say that its language, which could expose staff to fines or imprisonment, adds legal risk and may not work as intended. Inside Lowell
