Coalition for a Better Acre received a $258,000 grant from NeighborWorks America to build more affordable homes, fight hunger, and run free programs that help people manage money in the Acre neighborhood.
CEO Dan Rivera said local lawmakers like Senators Elizabeth Warren, Edward Markey and Congresswoman Lori Trahan supported the effort — a needed boost for Lowell residents.
🎓 Education
The first group of UMass Lowell Biotech Career Foundations students graduated on June 5 after completing eight weeks of hands-on lab training and career guidance.
Bioversity’s free, stipend-supported program is part of the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor—LINC, which aims to spur job growth and innovation.

Lowell Girls Lacrosse ended Week 8 of their MYL Classic and Select seasons as teams showed grit and growth while standout players made key contributions on offense, defense and in goal.
The teams now look ahead to the MYL Jamboree at Fort Devens on Saturday, June 14 plus further challenges in their season finale.
