COMMUNITY NEWS

  • ➤ Lowell honored 31 veterans by unveiling new Hometown Heroes banners at JFK Plaza and City Hall. Family members and city leaders attended the event, and the program—which started in 2023—has recognized 72 veterans overall.  Inside Lowell

EDUCATION NEWS

  • ➤ The former St. Jeanne D’Arc School is being renovated into a Special Education day school set to open by September 2027. The project is funded with $9 million in city capital funds and state grants and will include asbestos removal, new electrification, and upgraded facilities.  Inside Lowell
  • ➤ Greater Lowell Technical High School and UMass Lowell are now an Early College program designated by the state. The pilot for the 2025 to 2026 school year (with 240 students) lets students earn up to 30 college credits at no cost across Education, Engineering and Marketing and Business.  Inside Lowell
