Good morning, Lowell. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 11th of April.

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In 2010, Lowell joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Building Neighborhood Program and partnered with the Lowell Development and Financial Corporation to set up a $2.7 million Energy Loan Fund aimed at retrofitting commercial buildings in the historic district while keeping their classic look. The program showed that updating heating and cooling systems—like at the Athenian Corner restaurant and a 1893 church renovation—cut energy use well below projections and set a model for future upgrades.  Inside Lowell

Vehicles from Care In Reach arrived at 9:30 a.m.—followed by city and police units—and state agencies will later dismantle the site.  Inside Lowell
