About this event
Join us for a special First Friday program featuring Thomas “Spirit Tree” Green, a descendant of the Neponset band of the Massachusett Tribe, who gathered at the praying town of Ponkapoag.
Thomas is a Tribal Council Member and Chairman of the Tribe’s History Preservation Committee. He is an Indigenous Culture Steward, Educator, Consultant, and Cultural Interpreter specializing in the Indigenous history of Massachusetts and Indigenous land acknowledgments.
Through his work in cultural reclamation, Thomas has helped lead projects including traditional Indigenous fish weir construction, wetu (traditional summer homes), and dugout mishoon (canoes). He will share the history and cultural traditions of the Massachusett people, offering an opportunity to learn more about the Indigenous history of our region.
Make note of the First Friday program time change for this event. Instead of 2:00pm this program starts at 11:00am
