About this event

Join us for a special middle grade event featuring authors Diane Debrovner and Wendy Lu! We are excited to celebrate Debrovner’s latest book, "Roxie in Color," which tells the poignant story of a girl named Roxie navigating the seventh grade while dealing with the challenges of having blind parents. Striving for her own identity, Roxie grapples with the fear of being defined by her family's disability and the secrets she keeps, ultimately discovering the importance of honesty and self-acceptance.

Complementing this, debut author Wendy Lu will introduce her heartwarming novel, "Casting April," about sixth grader April Xue, an aspiring Broadway star who faces disappointment when she's not cast in her school's play due to her disability. With the help of her friends, April confronts her insecurities and fights for her dreams and a place in the spotlight.

Both authors will discuss their experiences and the themes of friendship, identity, and resilience in their work. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with these incredible storytellers as they share their journeys and inspire young readers!
