About this event

Composer Jeff Rapsis will perform live his new piano score to the Douglas Fairbanks swashbuckling epic!

The Black Pirate is an adventure film starring Douglas Fairbanks as a young nobleman seeking revenge for his father's death at the hands of Captain Alvarez and his ruthless pirates. Marooned on a deserted island, he forms an alliance with fellow captives to fight back. As the Black Pirate, he infiltrates Alvarez's ship, engaging in daring sword fights and acrobatics.

With its innovative use of two-strip Technicolor, The Black Pirate remains a classic that transports the audience into the world of piracy and heroism.

Jeff Rapsis is a writer/editor, educator, and also a composer and performer who specializes in creating live musical scores for silent film screenings. He does other things, too. Specific talents include an ability to place coins on either elbow and then catch them in the same hand before they hit the floor, though sometimes he misses and the coins go flying just everywhere. He's also an award-winning journalist, newspaper publisher, and owner of multiple dogs. Visit his websitehere.
