About this event

πŸ–πŸΏ class may include hands-on adjustments for consenting students A style of yoga which focuses primarily on the connective tissues – the joints, ligaments, bones, fascia- and uses longer-held, more passive poses to help restore the body through joint mobility, nourishing the body at the cellular level, and increasing energy flow within the body. It is complementary to styles of yoga and exercise that stress the muscles, have dynamic movements, might be more cardiovascular and heat-building in nature, and alignment focused. Yin yoga helps us with our yang movements as well as supports us sitting and being in stillness. In yin, we use the soma (living body) to find the pose creating a spontaneous connection with ourselves as we are in this present moment. Like meditation, it is a style that emphasizes inner alignment as well as brings understanding and awareness of our habitual patterning, the nature of change, and the concept of interdependence. In the longer poses, we can create fortitude and new options for managing stress as well as feel our own capacity for healing and our resilience moment to moment. Ultimately, the yin practice is a space for disengaging with the war within and developing the courage to be in a deeper and more full relationship with self, others, Mother Earth, and the Source of all life.
