About this event

Directed by Yeşim Ustaoğlu and Jasmin Selen Heinz (Türkiye, 2026, 82 min.). Turkish with English subtitles.

When a dam floods a Turkish valley, a displaced mountain community grapples with loss, abandonment, and despair. With haunting beauty, On the Dry Rock reflects on memory, pain, and the possibility of renewal. The documentary uses an evocative visual language to explore the human cost of displacement and the possibility of rebuilding a sense of home.

On the Dry Rock premiered at the 2026 Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Yeşim Ustaoğlu received the Boston Turkish Film Festival Excellence in Turkish Cinema Award in 2010.
