About this event

The Woman's Friend Society cordially invites you to our Fall 2026 meeting on November 15 at the historic Emmerton House.

Our featured speaker will be Jordan Green, archivist for the Woman's Friend Society and lecturer in the English department at Tufts University. Having earned her PhD in literature from Tufts earlier this year, her research focuses on the early novel and its intersections with the history of science and medicine.

She will present:

"'What Were We Born to Do?': Salem's Literary Women and their Intellectual Circle."

In addition to the presentation, we will discuss the history and future of the Woman's Friend Society. Please join us for refreshments and a tour of Emmerton House to learn more about our organization and upcoming events. In celebration of our 150th anniversary, we aim to welcome 150 new members, so we encourage you to bring a guest.
